Blog #28- February 24th

Grade 2- Blog #28- February 10th-21st Our town's "block party" to build community   The hospital gets busy after injuries from the storm!   LOOKING BACK The past two weeks have gone by in a blur! Students have begun operating and living in our simulated community, "G2 Special City". They have established many systems in our town, including a subway system, a renewable energy system (an electricity plant powered by water) and a postal system to communicate with one another. They have overcome personal obstacles, such a lost dog, as well as town-wide problems, such as a severe thunderstorm. Every day I look forward to seeing what new ideas the students will bring to our town! During the last week of school, families will be invited to our "Town Hall Meeting", where you will be able to find out more about what students have been up to! More details coming soon.... Blog #27- February 7th 🌆🎤

Grade 2- Blog #27- January 27th-February 7th LOOKING BACK     In UOI, students have been working twice as hard!! That's because we are still preparing for our YEP performance (lots to do for that still!), AND we have begun our sixth and final UOI unit- How We Organize Ourselves. For YEP, students have begun acting out their scenes, memorizing their lines, researching their sound effects, drawing their background images, and making their props! We were so happy when we edited the script and finally got it down to under 8 minutes! Meanwhile, in our new UOI unit, students have been planning a simulated community in our classroom! They will be role-playing the citizens as they learn to navigate the various organizations and systems that people establish in a community. We have already done a lot of work to prepare- students went on a walk through our local neighborhood to get ideas, brainstormed various parts of a community, sorted them into...
