Unit 4: Sharing the Planet
Theme: Sharing the Planet
Central Idea: People's response to conflict impact the quality of human life.
This was such a busy unit! We learned a lot about peace and what peace looks like. We thought about how to bring peace to ourselves, to our class, and to our world. This idea was more tangible for students this year with many already knowing about wars that are happening and being able to connect this topic to things they are hearing in their every day lives.
We learned about symbols of peace and made our own.
We were able to go on our first field trip during this unit as well! We went to the Osaka Science Museum! Although this field trip was meant to connect with out last unit, we were able to enjoy this fantastic museum and learn more about electricity and energy! We even were able to go to the planetarium show!
In math, we focused on patterns and symmetry. We thought about the kinds of symmetry we see in nature and practiced drawing and creating symmetrical patterns.
We then moved on to learning about pictographs and bar graphs! Learning about data collection and graphs is fun! We learned that an important part graphs is being able to read graphs and answer questions.
This Unit we also had ICF! We learned about the United Arab Emirates and its history. Some students in our class had personal experience in the UAE and it was great getting to share those stories with each other. We had fun exploring the different cultures and countries that were represented at ICF and eating lots of food!
