Blog #4- April 26th 🌻
Grade 2- Week 3- April 22nd-26th, 2019
LOOKING BACK
In math, students worked hard to remember their "10 Buddies" facts. This helped them to find the closest ten or hundred to a number, and to also calculate how far away that closest ten/ hundred is. They also worked with number lines to help support these skills!
It finally felt like spring-time this week! With warmer temperatures, we really enjoyed our time at the park, and at Family Picnic, especially as we learned more about making healthy choices for our bodies! Huge thank you to families who attended the picnic last Saturday- it was a blast!!
Students learned all about physical fitness this week. They created their own exercise logs to keep track of their fitness activities, and they also began making a new game that would help others to practice or learn about physical fitness! Students also read books to learn more about our bodies, muscles, and bones!

In writing, students continued to tell about their small-moment stories. They made sure to include many details, especially in the beginning of their story, to hook their readers' attention! They also practiced giving feedback to each other for the first time.

LOOKING AHEAD
Next week is Golden Week of course! When we return in May, students will finish creating their games, and then teach them to the class! Then, we will move on to other physical health choices, like good sleep and hygiene. Students will make dream-catchers, and they will also create posters to offer personal hygiene advice to younger (and older!) students. In math we will work on mental strategies to add and subtract numbers in our heads quickly. In writing, we will continue to add more details, such as dialogue and thoughts!
