Grade 2- Week 8- June 3rd-June 7th, 2019

LOOKING BACK
This week we got to go on our first big field trip of the year- and we had a blast! At the Osaka Museum of Science, we saw many different forces in action, including friction, gravity, air resistance, magnetic force, and much more!

In UOI, students dug deeper into gravity. They conducted experiments to test out how quickly objects fall, and they also created paper helicopters and other devices to observe air resistance- the force that pushes back on falling objects.

In writing, students continued to write the steps of the scientific method, starting with a question about the world around them.

In math, students created a pictograph with their first set of data. Then, they created a new question and collected another set of data from their classmates. After analyzing a few bar graphs, they began to create a bar graph using the above data!

LOOKING AHEAD
Next week in UOI students will investigate other types of forces and how they affect objects and people, including magnetic force, centrifugal force, and balance. They will also explore some of the laws of motion.

In math, students will continue to analyze and create new types of graphs, including line graphs and line plots!

In writing, students will create their own experiments to conduct and record, making sure to follow the scientific method carefully.
